Day 6: Thursday 6th August
A message from Scott (Please note the views expressed are Scott’s and not necessarily those of the Environment Centre!)
8.30 start after a full breakfast in the b&b to be faced with the steepest hill of the trip! After that really good cycling through picturesque countryside. Another steep hill was conquered by Rachel, crowned king of the mountain after the rest of us had to walk! Stopped for lunch at a viaduct in Westwood – watched the canal barges go by whilst eating a lovely picnic provided by Alan.
The highlight of the afternoon was the Bath Two Tunnels, one of which was a mile long & played classical music throughout.
We said goodbye to Alan and Patrick at a train station near Bath & made our way to meet our hosts for the night, Veronica and Geoff. Had a lovely evening & we were treated to a home cooked lasagne & great hospitality – thank you Veronica and Geoff!
Looking forward to our last full day tomorrow!
All ready to leave the B & B after a lovely full breakfast
Trying to work out what this tower is for – any excuse for a sit down
Amazing lunch provided by Alan, in a beautiful spot! Helen enjoyed the cake, whilst Rachel ate all the cheese.
Eating blackberries and mulberries picked by John.
10 minute cycle through a dark tunnel, where you can’t see the end! The classical music helped keep calm
All very excited for the 1 mile long tunnel – amazing experience, recommend to all. Wear a jacket, it’s cold!!
The 2 fast ones last goodbye as Patrick takes the van home. Scott already missing his fast friend!
Meeting our lovely hosts for the evening (& Shaun the sheep) in Bristol
An amazing meal prepared by Geoff and Veronica. We’re very thankful for their great hospitality. An evening thoroughly enjoyed by all, thank you!!
